It’s a psychological day for the Irwin family: Wednesday marks what would have been Steve Irwin’s 55 th birthday.
Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell got wed at the Australia Zoo Wednesday, hours before a curfew from the Australian federal government set to slow the spread of coronavirus would have limited the wedding event to five people.
” The Australia Zoo family are delighted for Bindi and Chandler, we want them a long and happy future together as couple. They had a lovely small, personal ceremony together in the gardens of Australia Zoo,” the zoo verified in a declaration to U.S.A. TODAY provided by Animal Planet agent Paul Schur.
Bindi is the child of late TELEVISION speaker and zookeeper Steve Irwin, who passed away in 2006 at age 44 from a stingray attack while shooting. In an Instagram post Wednesday, she said her bro, Robert, strolled her down the aisle.
” Chandler became my other half and together we lit a candle in Daddy’s memory,” she composed.
The zoo was “unable to share extra information of the special day,” but teased it was “in the procedure of working on an extremely unique task that will guarantee Bindi and Chandler’s wedding is shown everybody.”
Irwin and Powell shared pictures of the wedding event Wednesday on Instagram: Irwin in a lace dress and matching headband; Powell in a light blue gown t-shirt and khaki trousers — an Irwin family signature.
” We held a little event and I married my buddy,” Irwin wrote. “There are no words to explain the amount of love and light in my heart right now.”
Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced Tuesday the country would further minimize celebrations, limiting wedding events to 5 individuals: the couple, a celebrant and witnesses. The procedure is set to start at midnight Wednesday in Australia.
Australia has 2,364 cases of coronavirus and eight deaths since Wednesday.
Regardless of holding the ceremony prior to the government’s procedure entered into location, Irwin stated the couple got married without any guests. Her mother, Terri, helped her prepare yourself, while Robert strolled her down the aisle.

The older of the 2 Irwin kids, Bindi, 21, fulfilled Chandler Powell, a Florida local, in 2013 when he was visiting Australia for a wakeboarding competition, he revealed in 2015 when Irwin was on “Dancing with destiny.” Irwin provided him a trip of the Australia Zoo.
The couple got engaged on July 24, 2019– where else? — at the Australia Zoo.
” On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘permanently’ to the love of my life,” Irwin wrote in an Instagram post. “Chandler, near 6 years ago I fell for you and every day given that has been a whirlwind of experience and real happiness. I’m so eagerly anticipating spending our forever together as your spouse. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and genuine love.– Now let’s get wed currently!”
Irwin previously informed U.S.A. TODAY that the wedding event was being prepared for 2020 at the Australia Zoo, where the couple would be surrounded by family and friends.
” Whatever comes so easily,” she said of the decision to host the wedding event at the zoo. “It’s my backyard; it’s my house.”
Bindi and Chandler likewise informed USA TODAY they were believing about having a “very first croc feed” as a couple. And Bindi stated it would be enjoyable to have everybody stroll down the aisle with koalas.
” You are now couple; you might feed the crocodiles,” Bindi and Robert’s mother, Terri, joked.
